Good Morning! Mom’s day off has been the theme for this week’s cartoon strip … I know there are a bunch of Ladies reading the strip that are wondering what a ‘day off’ really amounts to? I equate it to taking vacations from work … the kind where you get money for your time. You spend the last few days before your vacation getting your desk cleaned off, appointments all met, clearing up any loose ends and issues that will save your co-workers from having to try to figure out what’s going on. You leave for a relaxing laid-back get-away only to return and find a stack of paperwork a mile high that you spend the next week working extra hours to clean up … vacation what?

Mom’s day off = more work at a later date. It is good to know we’re needed, even if it is for knowing the only way to clean peanut butter out of the dog’s fur.

Work and Donations

I’ve been working frantically to get all the production work done. As of now all of May is inked and I am doing the layout work. Its hard to go from month to month because I forget how I did certain things from last month, but I don’t think I could handle the pressure of the day-to-day.

We are working on some surprises for Spring Con which I will let you all know about later.

    I would say just because I used to work for Disney and have experienced it first hand I would say Make A Wish.

    But I think that the bigger picture is that if you had the money, you would do it, and the fact that we are all very sure of what we would do with the money, I think that would be called “conviction” ?

Fiats and Brick Workers

So I’m driving down the road today in the School Bus and we happen to pass a Fiat on the road, for those of you that don’t know what it is, they are a small, quick, newly redesigned, little car that is popular with some. I know this because of a Super Bowl commercial that was very memorable with a geek, an espresso, and the car.

Now, back to the school bus. As I pass the Fiat this morning from way in the back I see one of my kindergarteners immediately cover his eyes, and I here him yell, “spaghetti, rigatoni, ravioli, marinara!” He throws down his hands and looks around and says; “Hey, wheres the pretty Italian Lady?” I laughed so hard I almost had to stop the bus.

I did not get much done this weekend because we had birthdays to celebrate and company on Saturday, plus Chip was with us.

I still am inking the rest of next months cartoons, I am about half way done, I should have them done and ready by the beginning of next week and I will also be doing more cards this weekend. With Spring Con coming in a few weeks, the pressure is on.

We had A LOT of great answers/ideas last week and if this keeps up I am going to use this as a contest for the site and give stuff away!

    Excuse me… Hope you don’t mind but I need my calcium supplement…

    Mortar is found on all brick homes. It is a mixture of lime, cement, sand and water. Mortar is applied between each brick to hold them in place. Over time, this mortar can crumble and chip off. Loose mortar is a target for many different types of birds, but particularly sparrows. These birds do not get enough calcium in their diet necessary for egg production. Breeding sparrows eat loose mortar for the calcium. Even if the mortar is not loose, the birds may attempt to go after it. There are a few techniques to keep those birds away from your mortar

    Locate all of the loose mortar and place fake snakes around the spots where there is the most amount of loose mortar. Spread out the snakes around the entire area. This will help scare the birds away from the mortar

    I guess sometimes fact is just as funny as fiction.

      For those of you that DON”T know Eric sent me this LONG explanation of why this hit home for him and its funny how some of these toons remind some people of certain things…like fake snake in your potted plant on your desk at your office. :)
